For the Fun of it- the facebook debate of all debates. :)

Brittany Lane Walters wonders if our president will sleep well tonight.... sadly, I am betting on yes.

I think his time could be more useful checking out the real estate market in Africa... where... I'm betting is the ACTUAL place of his birth ..... in a few years, he's going to need a new place to live- as he just looked the word "reelection" in the face... and then casually flipped it off....

You can blame it on my Dad. His half of my dna is programmed to hate liberals, and was accompanied by a faulty filter. However, the upside, is that I have a stellar "bullshit-a-meter." Which- is why I smelled Obama's stank all the way from Chicago...as his friends, nay- his THUGS.... groomed him into the most convincing puppet of all mankind.

Though the bill may affect you personally negatively - and i'm sorry if it does - it will help a lot of people, including me.

Have you read the bill?

I'm not going to waste my energy or time arguing with someone who has their mind made up... I just wanted to bring to light that the bill passing is positive for many. If not, it wouldn't have passed.

All I am bringing to the table- is that we (both you and I), have no way of knowing if it will positive. There is fear in the unknown, and the secrecy surrounding its formulation is the only place in which I've made up my mind. For I haven't had the opportunity to read the bill, (as I imagine you have not either)- which was why I was so curious how you came to such a confidently positive opinion. Negativity can be justified, if for no other reason, than as citizens of the United States, questioning those who govern us (per the foundation of our founding fathers) is a tenet by which we all pledge our allegiance. Or as Rousseau said, "Let us set aside the question, for it has no bearing on the answer." It's not about whether this will be good, or bad.... were a nation of a written constitution, the law of the land- instead we should be inquiring the constitutionality of such a bill. We should QUESTION it. Or, to go full circle, we sure as hell should know what is about to be imposed on us. For again, according to Rousseau, when laws shake the foundation by which we are capable of providing security for our own person.... we are allowed- no, responsible- to pull our consent from an over-imposing government.

I do know at least one part of the bill will be positive, Kami. My company will be given a tax cut thus will be able to offer to pay for health insurance as a benefit to their employees again. Something that had been taken away due to the tremendous increase in premium costs in the past year.

I am sure there are other small businesses that will benefit in this way as well. Are you still in school and/or supported financially in some way by parents? Just curious.

Well that is very exciting, Lauren. I congratulate you. I hope that this government- run program is conducted with 90% more efficiency than all of the other programs. Because, only if that statistic is met, will you see any of the benefits that you have been so prematurely promised. I guess I'm an old fashioned kind of gal. I like to know what I'm getting into, I value hard work (which coincides with the ability to be able to give and volunteer.... if we are forced to do so... it is no longer a gift, but an obligation), and consistency. I can think of ample situations in which transparency was promised, and none could be found. For example, in Barrack Obama's first 100 days in office, he made a promise to the American people to post legislation in question on his website with a 14 day period for all who wished to have a voice, may offer their opinions. This never happened. (One of many, sadly, as I am not someone to root for the failure of anyone). Enjoy your free health insurance of the future, as you will most certainly, without a doubt, pay for in your taxes. For a good case study, I encourage you to look up the Sweedish model of universal health insurance. If you are in no way fearful of what is to come, the example alone will certainly lead you to a place of compassion and understanding of those who are.

I am finishing my Masters of Arts in Political Science and am completely financially independent. I pay outright, monthly, for my health insurance.

I don't know you, Kami, but I agree 250%!!! Very valid points...someone did their homework, unlike a vast majority I would be willing to bet. This is not good news for small business owners.

WAY TO GO KAMI! Just FYI, as I see 9 out of 10 governt-paid for patients a day and only get paid back 67% of what is owed to me.....I will be paying 20% more in taxes if this bill passes. So lets see....they are taxing the already -almost-half-paycheck I get. Wow, so I'll take home 47% of what I SHOULD be making!

Welcome to socialism, my friends. (please note deep sarcasm and dismay in my "typing voice") If you are interested in ways to fight back- I can recommend some actions that are state specific. Send me a message to inquire.
